Capability
Do what you want to do. And then some.
The 2018 Escape is capable in so many ways, offering versatile seating/cargo combinations. And it's engineered to deliver the performance your lifestyle requires. Depending on the model you choose, you have a 2.5L i-VCT, a 1.5L turbocharged EcoBoost engine, or a 2.0L Twin-Scroll EcoBoost rated at 245 horsepower. Handling control comes courtesy of standard AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control, Curve Control and Torque Vectoring Control. For added traction, there's available Intelligent 4-Wheel Drive, and if you need to tow, we offer two Class II Trailer Tow Packages - one with the 1.5L EcoBoost engine that provides a max tow rating of 2,000 lbs. (907 kg) and a 2.0L EcoBoost engine with a max tow rating of up to 3,500 lbs. (1,587 kg).
Three-Engine Lineup
Choose the 2018 Ford Escape model that matches your driving style: the Escape S and 165-hp 2.5L I-4 with intake variable cam timing (i-VCT); the SE or SEL, both powered by the 179-hp 1.5L EcoBoost engine for balanced power and efficiency. Standard on the Titanium and optional on SEL 4WD, the 245-hp 2.0L EcoBoost with Twin-Scroll technology gathers exhaust from pairs of cylinders in alternating sequence, maximizing pulse energy to the turbine wheel for quick torque delivery. Escape engines are teamed with a six-speed SelectShift transmission offering the convenience of an automatic or the sporty feel of a manual. Plus Auto Start-Stop Technology that helps lower fuel consumption and vehicle emissions during city driving.
Available Intelligent 4WD System
The available Intelligent 4WD System continuously monitors traction and road conditions every 16 milliseconds on the 2018 Ford Escape. It can transfer torque from front wheels to rear wheels as needed to ensure a precise blend of handling and traction at all times.
Maximum 3,500-lb. Towing Capacity
The 2018 Ford Escape Titanium has a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 lbs, (1,587 kg) when properly equipped with the 2.0L EcoBoost Class II Trailer-Tow Package. This package is also available on Escape SE and SEL with the 1.5L EcoBoost engine for a maximum 2,000-lb. (907-kg) rating. Trailer sway control technology, auxiliary transmission oil cooler and paddle shifters are included in the package. When trailer sway is detected, the system automatically takes measures, such as applying precise braking or reduced engine torque, to help keep both the vehicle and the trailer under control.
Curve Control and Torque Vectoring Control
Curve Control can sense if you're going too fast and slow the vehicle down using throttle reduction and anti-lock braking. Once you're into the curve, G-forces tend to transfer more traction to the outside tires than to the inside ones. Standard Torque Vectoring Control enhances that by transferring torque to the wheels that have the most grip, reducing understeer and forcing the front end to hug the inside of the curve.
AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control
Standard AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control (RSC) uses two gyroscopic sensors to monitor yaw and roll rates. This allows AdvanceTrac with RSC to help you maintain control whenever it detects wheelslip, understeer, oversteer or roll motion. It also helps maintain control in various road conditions such as ice, gravel or rain. AdvanceTrac with RSC also features Curve Control, which will slow the vehicle down when it senses that it's going too fast for a particular curve. Trailer Sway Control, too, is included in the Class II Trailer Tow Package.
Six-Speed Automatic Transmission with SelectShift
This versatile six-speed SelectShift® transmission offers the convenience of automatic operation. But when you shift into Sport mode, you get the sporty feel and control of a manual, but without the clutch.
